We want every man, woman, teenager, and child who has to walk the walk to have a hand to hold... the hand of someone who has 'been there', who understands every bit of the cancer mystery, and who can hang in there when times are tough.

In my mind, the greatest success of Nancy's List is that it tells the story of an amazing community that has responded with such sweetness and care to the crisis of cancer in the San Francisco Bay Area. At fun-raiser fund-raiser events in Sausalito, many many guests signed up to serve the needs of those living with cancer. Your wonderful neighbors offer their support ....

TRANSPORTATION TO AND COMPANIONSHIP FOR MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS

The American Cancer Society Road to Recovery program provides ground transportation for people living with cancer to their medical appointments and then to their homes. ACS will train those who wish to volunteer for this service as well as provide insurance coverage and reimburse you for transportation expenses. Cancer patients or their caregivers can arrange for this transportation by contacting the local ACS office. In Marin County, contact Linda Campbell at 454-8477. If you wish to be a companion as well to someone going through treatment, please talk with Linda about a brief informational training session to learn the best ways to support the patient.

Rent-a-Parent Personnel Services has been providing child care to Marin families for over 25 years. They have a temp (on-call) service and they also do part-time and full-time permanent placements. If you are going through cancer treatment and have children, Rent-a-Parent would lke to donate child care in your home when you need it.
