DESCRIPTION:Physicians recommend that you take this class before you start chemotherapy.  Being as prepared as possible for your chemotherapy helps ensure a positive and successful course of treatment. Oncology nurses and the Cancer Supportive Care Program created this class to familiarize you with everything you need to know about your upcoming chemotherapy.  Patients say this class helped reduce their anxiety before their first chemotherapy treatment.  The class covers general topics including: \n\nWhat is cancer and how it is treated?\nWhat is chemotherapy and how does it work?\nWhat to expect during chemotherapy treatment\nHow to manage side effects\nHow best to prepare yourself\, family\, and friends\nStrategies of coping with the emotional impact of chemotherapy\nWhat to expect in the Infusion Treatment Area\, including a tour\n\nLed by Margaret Hawn\, RN\, BSN\, Beverly Wheat\, RN\, and Chris Tucker\, RN \nReservations are encouraged\, however\, you can drop in to any class.  Family and friends are welcome. Parking passes are provided for the Pasteur Visitor Garage. \n
