Transforming the cancer experience
for families with free childcare and support.
Nankind provides free childcare, meals, and support programs for families affected by parental cancer. We equip kids with child-life-informed coping skills to build lifelong resilience while giving parents time back to rest and recuperate.
Nankind, founded in 2009 by mother and cancer survivor Audrey Guth, aims to alleviate the social and emotional impacts of cancer on families by providing free childcare and support programs. Originally known as Nanny Angel Network, Nankind offers critical interventions for children, helping them build emotional resilience during their parent’s cancer journey.
For Families
Balancing parenthood and cancer treatment is challenging. Nankind offers free, one-on-one support from trained Volunteer Angels, providing personalized care for children and relief for parents with cancer. Our programs include:
- In-Home Programs: A Volunteer Angel engages children with fun activities to help them express their feelings about their parent’s cancer, giving parents time to rest.
- Child Life Therapeutic Play: Helping children understand and cope with their parent’s cancer journey through play.
- Virtual Programs: Virtual homework support, arts and crafts to build resilience, and a Virtual Mom Support group led by a nurse navigator to help moms connect and build their network of support.
For Volunteers
Volunteering with Nankind is a rewarding experience that allows you to make a significant impact on families affected by cancer. The volunteer journey includes:
- Connection and Training: Volunteers undergo specialized training to support families effectively.
- Magical Matching System: Volunteers are carefully matched with families based on their unique strengths and experiences.
- Ongoing Support: Child Life Specialists provide continuous guidance to volunteers.
