I am not a shy colon cancer survivor. I’m out to save others the heartache and pain of a diagnosis. At 46, my body was telling me that something was seriously going wrong inside. Like many others, I was told it was depression, and indeed, I was depressed, too. After treatment, I became an advocate, lobbyist, and provided support directly to patients and their families.
Life has a way of working out,
one of my soul mentors told me.
A poor prognosis and a total life shift propelled me into becoming a Yoga Therapist. I train other yoga teachers to work with cancer patients on the first and only online course. For cancer patients and survivors, my goal is to ease suffering by using yoga the ancient tools of gentle breathing and guided meditation.
Yoga is about being. We all tend to ‘do’ too much. I believe that our nervous systems need special tending and care throughout our survivorship.
