I have been a licensed and practicing Massage Therapist since 2003. From the very beginning of my career, I have been driven to work with any body struggling with pain … pain from injury, illness or stress. No matter the cause, massage therapy can help.
In more recent years, an existing client was diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer. In order to continue working with her, I needed more education. I was lucky to go to a school that met this need by offering Cancer and Massage Advanced Certification and Comfort Touch massage. Both of these classes have exposed me to what is most important when working with people living with cancer plus those who have been treated and considered to be cancer-free. There are not many massage therapists in Nebraska who have this certification. It does not make me an expert; however it does give me a leg-up on what cancer does to the body, plus the do’s and don’t’s when working with this population.
I have recently added Manual Lymphatic Drainage into my massage therapy practice to treat clients with headaches. This has been quite effective. I have offered this modality to others for relaxation and well-being.
