Margaret Dubay Mikus Ph.D. was a molecular genetics research scientist and teacher who healed from serious illnesses including multiple sclerosis and breast cancer using an integrative approach. In 1995, after healing from MS, she began a poetic journal to “sing from the heart.” She is now a poet, singer, healer, storyteller, and photographer. For more than 20 years, her work has supported many people in making positive life changes.
Margaret’s 4 books have been called inspiring, accessible, hopeful, funny, graceful, and honest. She wrote her book, As Easy as Breathing: Reclaiming Power for Healing and Transformation, during her first journey through cancer. It is about living deeply, healing body, mind, emotions, and spirit. She recorded selected poems from that book and also from her second book, Letting Go and New Beginnings, on her CD, Full Blooming, which also includes 3 original songs. Her poem, “I Am Willing,” has been picked up by blogs all over the world and is now available as a guide to personal writing. Her powerful third book, Thrown Again into the Frazzle Machine, is a welcome lifeboat through life’s hard times, and a celebration of all the help that brings us light in the darkness. She was honored to be an Illinois Featured Author for the Willow Review. In 2016, she began a video-poem series including 3 poems from her most recent collection, Transcending Boundaries.
