Flying Horse Farms

Summer camps serve campers ages 8–15 with a serious medical illness, and each camp week is designed to meet the specific medical needs for a particular diagnosis or group of diagnoses. Campers attend camp without their families for approximately one week, will live in cabins, and participate in traditional summer camp activities under medical customized supervision. These activities include archery, boating, fishing, arts and crafts, nature, sports and recreation, overnight outpost camping and all group programs. And, as always, camps remain at no cost to families.

Hematology & Oncology Summer Camp

  • Hematology & Oncology Camp is for campers with hematologic diseases (including sickle cell disease, bleeding disorders, and anemias) and cancer (currently in treatment or in remission). *Factor infusions can be done at camp, however, campers are not able to receive blood products or IV chemotherapy at this time.

Siblings Camp

  • Siblings Camp is a week for siblings ages 8–15 of existing Flying Horse Farms campers.
  • Siblings attend camp without the camper with the medical diagnosis.

Trailblazer Weekend Camp (AYA)

  • Trailblazer Camp is a weekend camp for new and returning campers between the ages of 16–21 who are not participating in the Ranger program. Campers who qualify for any summer camp program are eligible to participate in the AYA camp weekend. The weekend is reserved for campers only without parents or guardians and will allow them an opportunity to connect with their peers. To learn more, read our FAQ’s for Trailblazer Camp.

When you walk through the doors of a 100-year-old restored red barn, you will find a place where children with serious illnesses go to experience the magic of camp. Built on 200 acres of beautiful farmland with trails, woods, and lakes in the heart of the Midwest, the camp houses a zero-entry pool and vegetable garden among its 22 buildings, 2 lakes, and limitless space for exploration and fun.

Flying Horse Farms is one of 14 member camps of SeriousFun Children’s Network. Founded by Paul Newman, SeriousFun Children’s Network is a growing global community of independently-managed and financed camps and programs creating opportunities for children with serious illnesses and their families to reach beyond illness and discover joy, confidence, and a new world of possibilities, always free of charge.Serious Fun Network

The fun is about to begin. When your children are at camp, all they have to do is be kids. Make new friends. And do what makes them happy.

Through the entrance of Flying Horse Farms lies a truly magical world-set apart from illness and life’s stresses.

Flying Horse Farms provides magical, transformative camp experiences for children with serious illnesses and their families – free of charge.

Our campers range in age from 8 to 15. Their interests and personalities are as different as the stars in the sky we camp under. But they are all alike in two important ways: they have serious illnesses and courageous spirits.
