I am a Yoga Therapist who primarily works with those affected by cancer and those suffering from the effects of trauma. I have been teaching trauma-sensitive yoga and meditation classes and workshops for a few years. I am now a Level 2 student of the Beaumont School of Yoga Therapy, a hospital-based, flagship program designed for yoga therapists who wish to work in a clinical setting. It is the first program of its kind anywhere, and I plan to start my Level 3 clinical externship in January.
I now work as a yoga instructor for the Cancer Support Community of Greater Ann Arbor which offers a host of classes, workshops, support groups, and services totally free to anyone affected by cancer: patients, survivors, caregivers, and even hospital staff and volunteers; CSC has 175 locations worldwide. Here in Michigan, the CSC partners with the St. Joseph Mercy Health System to offer classes at several of their hospitals across the state.
I offer a free weekly class each Thursday at 1:15 at the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute in downtown Detroit (class is immediately following the weekly cancer support group meeting). Some of the other Karmanos locations offer yoga as well.
I am willing to work with people at their homes, offices, etc., within 25 miles of my location (Pinckney, MI) on an individual or small group basis for a reduced fee of $40/hr, and less for those who are low-income and receiving assistance.
