Kids Kicking Cancer’s mission is: To ease the pain of very sick children while empowering them to heal physically, spiritually, and emotionally.
Using martial arts therapy, Kids Kicking Cancer teaches seriously ill children and their siblings to:
- Regain a sense of control over the chaos of their lives.
- Become empowered partners in their own healing.
- Push away the messages of pain, fear, and anger.
- Provide inspiration and light to others facing life-challenges.
- Teach other children, and even adults, how to take control.
- See themselves as victors, not victims.
All services provided by Kids Kicking Cancer are at no cost to the children and their families. Children 3 years and older, and their siblings, are eligible for the program.
Through an evidence-based innovative program that merges modern integrative medicine with traditional martial arts, Kids Kicking Cancer’s Heroes Circle program addresses the overwhelming needs of children with illness. Specially trained black belt martial artists teach breathing, visualization, and relaxation techniques, in addition to traditional martial arts moves, to help empower the children and provide them with a sense of power, peace, and purpose.
The Heroes Circle program is open to all children facing the pain and discomfort of any illness. We offer one-on-one training and group classes for both pediatric inpatients and outpatients in over fifty hospitals and institutions around the globe. Using martial arts meditative, breathing and movement techniques, we are working with boys and girls in 90 institutions in 7 countries. In areas where we do not yet have programs, video conferencing lessons are available. If you know of a child, teen, or young adult dealing with illness or in pain, please contact us.
Kids Kicking Cancer is a global organization dedicated to lowering the pain of children through the teaching of martial arts as a therapy. Children learn breath work, meditation and traditional karate movements that empower them to teach others and thus gain purpose within their lives. Our young cancer patients teach other children with challenging illness and even adults how to “breathe in the light and blow out the darkness”. This has extended into the creation of a Heroes Circle program dedicated to lowering the pain of all children regardless of disease.
