Here At Physical Harmony our goal is to help you keep your body functioning with efficiency and balance. Through a variety of massage techniques tailored to your specific needs, we can help you to recover from daily stress, fatigue and injuries.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage
The strokes applied in manual lymph drainage are intended to stimulate the movement of the lymphatic fluids in order to assist the body in cleansing. This is a gentle, rhythmical technique that can reduce inflammation, cleanse the system of toxins, enhance the activity of the immune system, reduce pain, and calm the nervous system. It is excellent for relief from post-surgery inflammation, sports injuries, and for prevention and treatment of Lymphedema. The most widely taught and generally accepted form of this technique was created by Dr. Vodder of Austria and requires advanced training and precise movements.
Oncology Massage
Oncology massage is the modification of existing massage therapy techniques in order to safely work with complications of cancer and cancer treatment. Anyone who has ever received cancer treatment, from those in active treatment to those in recovery or survivorship, as well as those at the end of life, are best served by a massage therapist who has received training in oncology massage. Essential aspects of an oncology massage therapist’s skill set are an informed understanding of the disease itself and the many ways it can affect the human body; the side effects of cancer treatments, such as medications, surgery, chemotherapy and radiation; and the ability to modify massage techniques in order to adapt for these side effects, as well as for the disease.
