I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker providing counseling, hypnotherapy, and mindfulness training in Alpharetta, GA and virtually in the state of Georgia. Through compassionate person-centered care, I help clients regain balance, overcome anxiety, and improve their quality of life. My specialty is working with clients with all types and stages of cancer, including metastatic disease, and their caregivers providing a safe space to talk about the tough stuff and work through difficult emotions.
Life before your diagnosis seems like a dream. Now you find yourself up at night, worrying, comparing your old life and the lives of your friends to this new life of doctors’ appointments, medications, and a constant buzzing reminder in your mind that something is wrong with you. If you’re like many people I see with a life-changing or life limiting illness, you often:
- Cringe when someone says, “how are you?” or “you look great”
- Pretend things are ok
- Use a lot of energy to protect the people you love
- Hate the phrase “accept your new normal”
- Agonize over each and every doctor’s visit, test or scan
- Feel frustrated or angry that nothing feels normal
- Think about death, dying or leaving your loved ones behind
Having cancer or a chronic illness does change your life but it doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice who you are.
I help people newly diagnosed or dealing with illness long-term to make sense of your diagnosis. Together we’ll identify the triggers that worsen your symptoms, reducing your suffering and pain. We’ll also lessen the fear of progressing symptoms, disease or death allowing you to sleep better, take care of yourself and improve your relationships. Using new tools in your toolbox such as CBT and hypnotherapy, you’ll be able to have the difficult conversations you’ve been ignoring and stop chasing rabbit holes of fear and worry. I can carry the weight of the fear of death and dying that you don’t think your friends and family can handle so you can bring balance back and get on with living.
With me, you can share and process the tough stuff, the tears as you leave yet another doctor’s appointment at Atlanta Cancer Care, Piedmont, or Emory, the anxious thoughts before your next test or scan, and the deafening fear that you’ll never be ok.
