Nadine Kelly MD, Retired Doctor, Experienced Yoga Instructor, Mind Body Medicine, Exercise and Fitness Coach, Counseling

I am a retired pathologist, experienced yoga instructor, American Council of Exercise certified Health Coach, and Senior Exercise Specialist, founder of YOGI M.D. and host of the YOGI M.D. Podcast. For years, I was a practicing physician in a thriving community  hospital setting. But despite having reached what I thought was my ultimate goal, something was missing – a sense of true fulfillment. The time had come to focus on health, wellness, and prevention. Already a yoga practitioner and first degree black belt in taekwondo, I was passionate about the connection of mind, body, and spirit, so I took a leap and became a yoga teacher to mature women, or as I like to call them, Wise Women.

I believe in empowering women, through yoga, to maintain the healthy bodies and minds they need to live life on their own terms, at every stage. Participation in my yoga classes helps students to maintain flexibility, mobility and balance in order to perform activities of daily living and leisure activities, improve quality of life, and control the effects of a range of chronic conditions. Since 2012, I have been teaching people with a variety of chronic conditions such as arthritis, joint replacements, hypertension, scoliosis, sleep disturbances, anxiety and depression, multiple sclerosis, chronic pain, osteopenia and osteoporosis, COPD, asthma, and cancer survivors.

“Anyone who can take a breath can do yoga.”

Yoga fulfills our deep need to connect, heal, listen, and be physical. The most rewarding moments come with the smile on a student’s face who leaves our class pain free and energetic – having doubted she could do yoga.

Our senior population is ever expanding and needs a patient, understanding and compassionate listener – a person to help them, honor them and treat them with dignity and respect. As an ACE (American Council on Exercise) certified health coach, I help clients learn to practice lifelong, meaningful behavioral changes for a healthy life through exercise guidance, nutrition education, and  behavioral change coaching. I am a certified Senior Fitness  Specialist, serving older adults to promote active aging through  appropriate exercise modifications.

I am located in Chicago, IL and Sawyer, MI. Connect with me to find the right class or service for you.
