I am a licensed oncology massage therapist for people with active cancer or cancer histories. Oncology massage takes into consideration all a person has gone through, surgeries, medication, or radiation. My goal is to tailor the massage so it can reduce or eliminate some of the symptoms that are created from the disease and created from the treatment of it. Research suggests that some of those symptoms massage can help with are pain, nausea, fatigue, insomnia, depression, and anxiety. I not only work with individuals who have or had cancer, but I also work on people without health challenges.
Massage can give you support, comfort, and relief, whether you are feeling overwhelmed by a new diagnosis, struggling with treatment side effects or trying to find your way back to being you. I am trained in a variety of modalities, and specialize in Oncology Massage and Manual Lymph Drainage; in addition to Relaxation Massage and Aromatherapy.
I graduated from the Core Institute and became licensed in 1994. I have been trained in many modalities; however, I specialize in working with people who have cancer, are in remission, or have lymphedema.
I served the state of Florida as a Board Member, Vice-Chair, and Chair of the Florida Board of Massage Therapy from 2009 until 2015. I also served as the Florida Delegate to the Federation of State Massage Boards in 2014 and 2015. I taught massage therapy for the Core Institute for three years and at Lively Technical Center from 2011 – 2017. I am a member of both the AMTA and the Society for Oncology Massage.
