Sifu Jean Sica offers workshops and classes in Tai Chi Chuan in the Rochester, NY area. She initially trained and was certified for Tai Chi Easy and Qigong under Master Teacher Dr. Roger Jahnke of the IIQTC (Institute of Integral Qigong and Tai Chi) and later received certification to teach Tai Chi for Arthritis.
Tai Chi is a mind-body practice originated in China as a martial art but has proven to be much more. Harvard Medical School calls Tai Chi “medication in motion” because it uses slow graceful movements and controlled breathing techniques that strengthen your mind-body connection, reduce stress, promote serenity, improve circulation and joint flexibility, and help maintain muscle strength… thereby enhancing the practitioner’s overall health. Tufts University says Tai Chi is helpful for arthritis, bone density, sleep problems, and more. Mayo Clinic says it’s a gentle way to fight stress. The CDC recommends Tai Chi for fall intervention.
Originally from the downstate New York area, Jean has a long personal history of experience with meditation, Eastern philosophy, and holistic health practices.
Jean believes that each of us holds the key to a full and healthy mental and physical health, to be the best we can be, to share ourselves with others in a healthy way, and to be at peace with what life throws our way. It is through being present and aware of the life force within us and around us and that which connects us… this is the most profound experience.
