Hello. I’m Paige Davis. I am a collector of tools that integrate the mind, body, and spirit and empower transformation and growth from a personal place of awareness. I have long believed that mind-body practices like mindfulness and meditation help us respond to high demand situations and live life with more compassion, patience, generosity, and joy.
I experienced this first hand when, nine months into my daily meditation practice, my doctor uttered the words, “breast cancer.” As I share in my book, Here We Grow, meditation and mindful living became my home base and gave me the perspective to realize I didn’t need to be positive or deny the hardship of my situation, I needed to BE PRESENT. It is this present-moment awareness that continues to be key as I embrace an open-hearted and integrative way of living.
After a lifetime of seeking all things spiritual, wellness, and at times woo-woo, I find myself facing a breast cancer diagnosis at thirty-eight years old. I quickly realize, however, that cancer is not my crisis point but a landing pad of experiences that is inviting me to integrate my mind, body, and spirit. Ultimately, I embrace ,y diagnosis through a lens of love rather than as a battle to be fought — a perspective that allows me to find peace in the present moment, and heal from the inside out.
Cancer is a life-changing diagnosis. There is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to navigating the challenges of any unexpected life change. This is my story about embracing cancer through a lens of love rather than as a battle to be fought. While experiencing my cancer journey was one level of awakening, sharing the book continues to provide a level of vulnerability, catharsis, and healing that has stretched in ways I never knew possible. It hasn’t always been comfortable, but I have experienced such pride and joy connecting with so many people and hearing your own stories awakening and transformation. Thank you for inspiring me to continue integrating with my “still small voice” in such embodied ways.
In Here We Grow, I provide a refreshing new paradigm of integrative living that doesn’t deny the hardship of a situation but instead encourages meeting difficulty through embodied heart-centered presence. Utilizing mindfulness, meditation, and mind-body disciplines, I share a tool kit for transformation as I learn to befriend mybody, cope through compassion, face survivor’s guilt, create a “new normal” post treatment, and discover the unexpected awakening of intuition and open-heartedness in the healing journey.
Filled with honesty, humor, and present-moment awareness that reveals our true capacity for joy, connection, grace, and resilience, Here We Grow is Davis’s story of meeting fear and uncertainty with mindfulness, meaning, and the unconditional love inherent in us all. Read an excerpt >>>
In 2014, I started Soul Sparks where I lead mindfulness programming designed to increase productivity, enhance communication, inspire creativity, manage stress and boost resilience. I am also Master Trainer for the MMI Mindfulness@Work™ Program through McLean Meditation Institute.
I believe mindfulness and meditation are key to living a life of connection, ease, and open-heartedness.
I like to think of mindfulness as a muscle and meditation as daily exercise for our brain. The more we flex it, the more present we become and able to respond to life’s challenges with less stress, more compassion, and boosted resilience. We can also practice mindfulness in our daily lives through walking, listening and eating. As a result, we learn to befriend change and embrace transformation as the true catalysts for growth and living life with more peace, joy, and clarity. You don’t need to go to a mountaintop or sit cross-legged to get the benefits. With willingness and curiosity, you can start experiencing the benefits and practicing in the comfort of your home or office.
In addition to my memoir Here We Grow: Mindfulness Through Cancer and Beyond, I am proud to be featured alongside some of my “SHEroes” in I Am With You: Love Letters to Cancer Patients. My work has been featured in Huffington Post, MindBodyGreen, Ozy, Health, and Mindful Magazine.
