Healwell, Center for Integrative Therapy

Healwell is answering the call to improve the experience of living with acute, chronic and terminal illness by solving what we see as three main problems. First, we train massage therapists to bridge the gap between their foundational massage education and the skills and knowledge they need to make a measurable contribution to healthcare teams in clinical settings. Second, we put those therapists to work, alongside physicians, nurses, PTs, OTs and other team members to support an integrative approach to care in hospitals and clinics worldwide. Third, we collaborate and participate in meaningful research about the effect and feasibility of incorporating massage therapy in mainstream healthcare.

Healwell offers courses for oncology massage therapists and other allied health professionals to support meaningful massage therapy as well as inter-professional collaboration and the role of self-awareness in effective and sustainable caregiving.

Courses include …
Hospital-Based Massage Therapy
Oncology Massage Therapy
Mindfulness and End of Life Care
Workshops, Lectures, Continuing Education Courses

Massage therapy is a discipline. Massage therapy is most effective when provided by skilled practitioners working from a body of knowledge, not limited by specific modality.

Integrative, not alternative. Massage therapy does not replace surgery or medication, but combined with mainstream care, massage therapy can facilitate a new level of healing.

Exceptional care takes exceptional practitioners. Highly-trained, compassionate professionals who understand the limits and benefits of massage therapy and have the tools to collaborate can change the experience of illness.

The time is now. Massage therapy is an essential piece to the epidemic of poorly managed pain in today’s world.

Healwell partners with hospitals and other healthcare facilities to provide meaningfully integrated massage therapy.  Our team of specially-trained massage therapists collaborate in care supporting patients at hospitals throughout the DC metro area.

Healwell collaborates with hospitals and other healthcare facilities to create and conduct research about the feasibility and effect of massage therapy on people living with illness.

In addition to direct partnership with hospitals and other healthcare facilities, Healwell changes the way it feels to live with acute, chronic, and serious illness by providing clinically exceptional and compassionate massage therapy in hospitals and other care settings. And now we’re bringing this care directly to you in your home.

Our team of massage therapists provides outpatient and inpatient massage therapy specifically adapted and supportive for adults and children in and around Washington, DC.
