Recently someone asked me how I would best describe my work if I were to state it as a mission. I always recoiled from the term “mission” because it seemed grandiose. However, something must have shifted because I responded, without hesitation, with this:
I teach people effective, user-friendly tools that help untangle the knots that cause and deepen their suffering.
Here’s what that looks like:
I am a longtime practitioner and teacher of Mindfulness-Based Interventions, Meditation, Stress Reduction, Yoga and Yoga Nidra. I trained and worked as a licensed clinical social worker (MSW, LCSW) and integrative psychotherapist. My clinical work took place in community mental health centers, outpatient clinics, hospitals, universities and private practice. Much of my practice was aimed at helping people with anxiety, stress-related illness, depression, pain management and difficulties with concentration.
I design and teach Mindfulness-Based Interventions/ Programs to schools, school administrators, university students, community organizations, businesses, educators, patients, caregivers and pretty much anyone who is interested. I offer a 6 week series titled: Mindfulness Practices for Everyday Life and am currently developing a rich curriculum that can be used for a 4, 6 or 8 week series. Essential aspects of the curriculum are also effective for workshops, workplace trainings and partial day or full day programs.
In 2016, I created a therapeutic guided relaxation recording titled Yoga Nidra: Total Relaxation Practices for Adults and Teens.
Why Yoga Nidra?
Yoga Nidra works like nothing else to loosen the knots that anxiety, stress, overstimulation, pain and an unfocused mind can tighten. Listening to a well designed yoga nidra recording leaves us with settled quiet minds and profoundly relaxed bodies. I know this to be true because it was my consistent Yoga Nidra practice that was my strongest ally in my personal experience with cancer, cancer recovery and other jarring events that showed up as major challenges in my life. In addition to my personal experience with Yoga Nidra, I have witnessed its profound impact on students and clients whom I have worked with.

All that I teach is actionable in ordinary daily life. We don’t need hidden caves or mountain tops to learn and refine tools that will assist us in the process of living with greater presence, shaper awareness, skillful actions and a courageous heart.
