I am a graduate of the New York University masters in art therapy program and have worked with children and adults in inpatient and outpatient settings since 1982. My credentials include registered and board certified art therapist (ATR-BC) and art therapy certified supervisor (ATCS) through the Art Therapy Credentials Board.
As a faculty member in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, I provide clinical services to adults and teach and supervise psychiatry residents. Since the late 1990s, I have worked with cancer patients and helped to start an art therapy group for adults with cancer at the Hederman Cancer Center in Jackson, Mississippi in 2002. This group has been ongoing since that time (online for two years during the pandemic through Zoom) and is now sponsored by and housed at the Mississippi Museum of Art. The Creative Healing Studio is for adults who has been diagnosed with cancer in the past or are currently being treated for cancer. The art therapy approach that is used for this group is studio and community-based art therapy. There is also an option to join the group sessions through Zoom.
I have published accounts of my work in journals and books and co-edited the book, The Legacy of Edith Kramer: A Multifaceted View (2018), Routledge.
I frequently conduct workshops and presentations in the U.S. and in other countries.
