In the medical world, we are often asked “How are you feeling today?” but how often are we asked, “How is your spirit today?” We are all body, mind, and spirit – but too often in the midst of a medical diagnosis the well-being of one’s spirit gets pushed to the bottom of people’s concerns. To ignore the disquiet of our hearts and spirits is to disregard the needs and the wisdom of your mind-body-spirit experience.
In my counseling practice, I work with people who are finding ways to process and cope with life transitions and struggles, including those who are living with a chronic or potentially terminal illness, or are the caretaker of someone who has received a difficult diagnosis, or those who are grieving the physical and existential losses that come with receiving a cancer diagnosis.
I began my work as a hospice chaplain and grief counselor, and then went on to do counseling at Tufts Medical Center Cancer Center. I presently see private clients at my office in Back Bay, Boston, and I also offer at-home counseling for those clients who cannot physically come to my office.
