I use Emotional Freedom Techniques, EFT tapping to help my clients with a wide variety of issues with a primary focus on trauma. I have been using it on myself and with clients since 1998, working with PTSD, grief, loss, chronic pain, anxiety, depression and other challenges that people face every day. The results I have observed are amazing and research has now shown how effective EFT tapping really is.
EFT tapping has its basis in Chinese medicine and acupuncture; however, no needles are used. It is often referred to as acupressure for the emotional brain. It involves tapping on 13 meridian or energy points on the body while being tuned into the emotional distress one is experiencing about a specific experience, thought, belief, or behavior.
EFT tapping frequently produces rapid, sustainable results and often works when other methods have failed. EFT tapping also has an advantage over EMDR in that clients can learn to use the technique on themselves. What we know is that the tapping is sending a calming, counter-conditioning signal into the areas of the brain involved with the fight, flight, or freeze response.
