Camp Sunshine

Our Vision: The lives of children with cancer will be restored and strengthened by the embrace of our Camp Sunshine community.

We are families dealing with childhood cancer who come together to share, grow and find hope. We are passionate volunteers, who give and receive so much more in return.

Camp Sunshine enriches the lives of Georgia’s children with cancer and their families through year-round recreational, educational, and support programs. Camp Sunshine is committed to providing opportunities for normal development for all children with cancer throughout their journey and bringing together those with similar experiences to share and draw strength from one another amid common understanding.

When a child is diagnosed with cancer, the days of playing ball and going swimming are often replaced with clinic visits and hospital admissions. Yet at Camp Sunshine’s Summer Camp, a camper can receive chemotherapy in the morning and be horseback riding by the afternoon. Here children with cancer are able to experience summer camp just like other kids.

Two one-week sessions are held; a session for children ages 7 – 12, and a session for teens 13 – 18. Each week is packed full of fun, excitement, inspiration and age appropriate activities.

Dear Camp Sunshine,
I went to Camp Sunshine
for the first time last year.
At first, I was scared
that I wasn’t going to like it there
and I wasn’t going to make any friends.
Before we made it to the camp site,
I asked multiple times did I have to go.
After the first few hours,
I had made friends
and was having the time of my life.
The best activity at camp was Wacky Olympics.
When it was time for me to go,
I tried my best
to avoid getting in the car and going home.
Now I’m just waiting for summer this year.
It was one of the coolest things
that I had the opportunity to do
throughout the whole time I had cancer.

The summer of a lifetime for kids and teens with cancer.

After attending Camp Sunshine, campers bring home more than just dirty laundry. They bring home unforgettable memories and long lasting friendships. They bring home tales of tasks accomplished that, before, were thought of as unattainable. They come home feeling more confident in themselves and more secure with their illness. It is amazing how one week at Camp Sunshine can truly make a difference in their lives.
