Camp Watcha-Wanna-Do

Camp Watcha-Wanna-Do is a non-profit Indiana corporation serving adolescent cancer survivors in Northeastern Indiana and the surrounding areas. CWWD is completely free for kids surviving cancer and we have never turned a camper away.

We are committed to providing opportunity and support to every child living with cancer, their families and communities regardless of their medical circumstances through ongoing quality recreational activities.

A one-week summer resident camp program is offered to children 7-18. Campers may bring one sibling. Kinder camp is a one-day camp for children under the ages of 7 who are cancer survivors and their families. It is held on the Wednesday of resident retreats. Trips are held a few times a year as are activities such as pizza parties, bowling, amusement parks, etc. Family camp is held once a year and is open to cancer survivors and their families.

From the day camp is over, Camp Watcha-Wanna-Do campers are already looking forward to next summer’s week of fun — and normalcy. The campers have lived through cancer and the aftermath of physical and emotional concerns. They know they are just a little bit different from the other kids. Here at Camp Watcha-Wanna-Do, each camper experiences seven days of freedom and acceptance.

Our leaders provide purposeful, daily opportunities for young people to learn how to develop new relationships and get along with others. At our camp, we teach how to make friends. We also provide opportunities for our campers to teach their relationship skills by coming back to camp as counselors and mentoring others. Campers find friends who understand the disease, but rise above it, unhindered, and able to do anything they want to do. Watcha-Wanna-Do? Do it all at camp!

Being a valuable part of a team is crucial, not only to “win” but also to survive in today’s world. We value teaching and modeling the transferable skills of team building and teamwork.

At our camp, reaching the top is important, but learning about and practicing persistence is even more so because this is a skill that can be used in every part of life, every day for the rest of our lives.

We aim higher. Our campers love learning how to hit an archery target. But at our camp, we focus even more on hitting the targets for success! So we use activities like archery, horse back riding, high ropes and hikes to talk about the power of what we say to ourselves when we are trying hard things, to focus on confidence, step-by-step improvement, and more.
