Roundup River Ranch offers old-fashioned, pure fun camp experiences for children with serious illnesses and their families. At our beautiful Colorado ranch and through year-round activities, we offer our campers and families the chance to enjoy the most extraordinarily ordinary joys of childhood.
Here, children are not defined by their illness.
Our campers can take a true vacation from being “a patient” and get back to the fun of being a child. Here, the healing power of laughter, friendship and shared experiences offer kids the chance to make new friends, find the courage to try activities they never thought possible, and build confidence.

The incredible combination of exuberant play and incredible medical care.
With full medical, physical and emotional support from healthcare professionals, trained staff and dedicated volunteers, campers and their families have the peace of mind to simply live in the moment and have fun. While we focus on the fun of living life large we also understand the very real needs of our campers. When medical support is needed, it is immediately provided – expertly, with compassion, and with as little disruption as possible to the camper’s activities. We think nothing of venturing out on a canoe to administer a medication at the correct time, rather than make a camper come in from the fun.

A priceless experience without a price tag.
Roundup River Ranch is always free of charge for all kids and their families. Our camp is funded through the generosity of the communities we serve and our loyal supporters. We rely on the support of individuals, corporations, foundations, and friends just like you to make this magical place possible.
Roundup River Ranch Camp is one of 14 member camps of SeriousFun Children’s Network. Founded by Paul Newman, SeriousFun Children’s Network is a growing global community of independently-managed and financed camps and programs creating opportunities for children with serious illnesses and their families to reach beyond illness and discover joy, confidence and a new world of possibilities, always free of charge.
What makes Roundup River Ranch so extraordinary?
We make campers with serious illnesses feel like ordinary kids. Giggling, laughing, conspiring, arrow-shooting, horseback-riding, art-creating kids. We help campers and their families enjoy the gift of extraordinarily joyful moments, lasting friendships, newfound courage, and memories that remain long after the last s’more is devoured.
Know what’s most extraordinary about camp? How it makes kids with serious illnesses feel like “ordinary” kids.
The truth is, our campers are sick and tired of being labeled as “sick.” They’re just kids who want to be kids. And that is precisely what every day (and s’more-roasting night) is all about. (And of course, it’s all always free of charge!)
Not only are we nestled in one of the most beautiful places in the Colorado mountains (see awe-inspiring photos right here), but we’re also a place that has a real honest-to-goodness magical quality about it. Campers discover that they are more courageous than they thought, more capable than they imagined, and more blissfully “ordinary” than they had realized.
Thousands of campers experience Roundup River Ranch each year through a variety of programs onsite at our camp location, Camp Online, Joy, Delivered (offline), and offsite Camper Reunions. We welcome campers from across Colorado and an 11-state region. That makes for a huge number of potential new BFFs!
Our intentional programming philosophy means campers choose what they want to tackle, push themselves to try new things, and celebrate with all of camp for their accomplishments. Read more of the feel-great details here.
