Kailo Nutrition began in 2013 with the philosophy that nutrition has a profound impact on our health and quality of life. “Kailo” is an Indo-European root word for health, heal, whole, uninjured, and of good omen. Kailo Nutrition combines traditional nutrition counseling with practical culinary instruction, empowering individuals to improve their health and feel better. Since 2016, I have used culinary nutrition as a way to help clients prevent and reverse chronic diseases. My private practice uses lifestyle medicine to prevent and reverse many chronic diseases.
I am dedicated to the science of Culinary Nutrition applied toward autoimmune disorders and chronic diseases that mandate dietary intervention as well as general health and wellness through lifestyle changes. I provide resources and services for those who understand (or want to understand) the profound impact food has on disease and healing but struggle with making lifestyle changes sustainable. I am passionate about helping individuals heal, determine food triggers, and discover new foods that are part of a healthy lifestyle change.
After using food as a way to turn around my husband’s dramatically high cholesterol, I felt driven to share how to prepare easy, health promoting meals in a way such that they taste great and don’t keep you tied to your kitchen!
After being diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer in 2019, I experienced the cancer treatment journey firsthand.
I use tailored elimination diets to address autoimmune disorders that affect thyroid and gastrointestinal health. The Low Iodine Diet (LID) requires awareness, mindfulness, and intention regarding the food you eat. The goal is to determine a sustainable dietary lifestyle plan that will maximize client health and decrease the need for prescriptions and procedures.
During one-on-one nutrition counseling, I will work with your food preferences, schedule, and individual health concerns to discover a nutrition intervention that makes the most sense for you. My mission is to provide you with information, tools, and life skills to be effective champions for your own health and well-being while serving as role models and resources for your communities.
I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of North Florida, a graduate degree from the T. Colin Campbell Plant-Based Nutrition Certification Program and the Rouxbe Plant-Based Professional Certification Program.
It is an honor to combine my personal health experience with my professional background to decrease the stress associated with a cancer diagnosis and treatment. My hope is that I can provide you with straightforward answers to common questions.
I work with clients post-cancer to maximize survivorship. I do not work with clients during their active cancer treatment.
