With a background in hospital social work, I have been in the trenches and walked along side people dealing with the impossible. I am here, with no judgments, to hold a calm and nurturing space for you. It is possible to live in the present moment, without being blindsided by your emotions, and enjoy the relationships you want.
My specialty areas include trauma, grief, and chronic illness. I approach therapy with a social justice lens, and believe in the power of humor and shared laughter to help us connect and cope.
I am an EMDR-trained clinician and have experience in supporting clients through new diagnosis, treatment, end of life, and survivorship. I draw from a variety of approaches including EMDR, internal family systems and psychodynamic. With your history informing us, we will rely on our interactions in the therapy session to access and begin to repair the pain you are feeling.
I am passionate about working with people who have experienced trauma or loss. Some of my clients are parents, caregivers, and medical professionals tasked not just with carrying their own suffering but bearing witness to the suffering of those around them. Many of my clients struggle with anxiety, depression, or other symptoms that may be related to not having processed and healed the overwhelming situations they have experienced. Underlying these concerns often lays difficulty with communication or maintaining relationships. I extend to them an opportunity to heal wounds in need of attention, and restore the true, authentic selves that they are meant to be … and I would like to offer you the same.
I also have pediatric experience and especially enjoy working with parents of children diagnosed with cancer. The majority of my clinical experience has been in the pediatric medical setting including New York Presbyterian Hospital, Aflac Cancer Center and as a team lead at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. In addition to clinical practice, I was also the primary investigator of a grant-funded research project and was honored to receive the ExCEL in Social Work: Excellence in Cancer Education and Leadership award. I am also privileged to be a recurring guest lecturer at Emory University, training nursing students about how to best interact with trauma and intensive care patients and families.
I am licensed to practice in Georgia and am offering in-person sessions in Decatur GA or virtual sessions throughout the state.
I am out-of-network with insurance but do provide you with super-bills for any out of network reimbursement available to you.
It would be my honor to walk with you on your journey. Please email me if you think we would be a good fit.
