I provide music therapy sessions for individuals with cancer, their families, and caregivers … both in-person and virtually … to relieve pain and anxiety, regain speech and motor skills, and connect with self and others. Instrumental improvisation, adaptive songwriting, breathwork and singing.
Music Therapy for Cancer Patients
Kate skillfully incorporates listening, learning and interpreting music
into a program that is individually meaningful.
The music therapy has helped with relaxation,
managing stress,
refocusing energy and allowing creativity to return.
One individual summed up the program by saying, ”
Music therapy has brought me back to life”.
Elisa Fraser
Physical Therapist at York Hospital
I studied at the USM School of Music and then worked for Frank Glazer before earning my Master’s degree in Music Psychotherapy from New York University. I interned at Beth Israel Medical Center and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. I returned to the fresh air of Maine to open Maine Music & Health, LLC. to help those with illnesses and disabilities reach their goals through the power of music.
I present at conferences and facilitate group and individual sessions. I am also a trained REMO HealthRhythms facilitator and have my certification in Neurologic Music Therapy.
I founded the Maine State Music Therapy Task Force and serve as vice president of the USM Alumni Board. I also serve on the APHA’s Noise & Health committee, where I create and edit educational videos. I keep an active schedule performing as a percussionist, spending time with family, paddling, and advocating for environmental health.
