Moving Beyond Cancer Collaborative (MBCC), Education, Exercise and Wellness, Center for Integrative Therapy

Moving Beyond Cancer Collaborative offers educational seminars, exercise, and wellness classes for all those affected by cancer at no cost to the participants.

Our mission is to provide accessible and affordable integrative oncology health and wellness services that encourage sustainable balance within the mind, body, and spirit for all individuals affected by a cancer diagnosis.

Our philosophy is that integrative oncology health and wellness services, educational seminars, and fitness classes should be available to all individuals affected by cancer regardless of ability to pay.

Our intention is to move individuals through and beyond cancer in a manner that is dignified, compassionate, and empowering.

Our Story
In 2020, the Moving Beyond Cancer Project was birthed in collaboration with Cancer Rehab & Integrative Medicine (CRIM). CRIM began offering free exercise and wellness classes to the cancer community at no cost in 2016. Four years later, it became clear that CRIM needed support in their efforts at offering exercise, wellness, and educational classes to the community as the number of attendees from the cancer community has steadily increased. The Moving Beyond Cancer Collaborative was created to support these efforts, increase integrative oncology offerings, and to help create a strong community where patients, caregivers, and providers can come together regardless of where they are in their cancer journey.

Once you choose hope, anything is possible.

Community Acupuncture
We are thrilled to now host our community acupuncture clinic two days a week:

Saturday mornings 9:30AM-1:00PM
Wednesday afternoons 2:00PM-6:00PM

Our goals …

  • Make it possible for folks to receive acupuncture 2 times per week as part of their routine care, or for weeks where they experience a flare up or new issue
  • Increase accessibility for our patients with a longer commute so they can avoid weekday traffic
  • Remove a barrier to care for those whose work schedules and childcare needs did not align with weekdays

Community Acupuncture is sliding scale, with a suggested donation range of $5-$40. We ask that you pay a rate that is an honest assessment of what is feasible. All proceeds maintain Moving Beyond Cancer Collaborative programming and make it possible for us to provide this care at low-cost.

We welcome participants at any stage in their cancer journey, as well as caregivers and members of their support system.

Thank you for participating in our programming and clinic. We are so grateful to have you as part of our healing community!

This is an amazing resource for those of us who found ourselves struggling with classes after cancer surgeries and ongoing effects. The yoga and cardio sessions that I have been attending have opened up and stimulated areas of my body that I thought were inaccessible forever. The most important benefit to me is the friendly welcoming course leaders; they have been outstanding in their instruction and support. I have never found anything as beneficial and inclusive as this. I feel safe and in the best possible hands. Thank you!

The online classes have been outstanding. Catherine’s Pilates got me turned onto doing Pilates on a regular basis. Shannon’s yoga classes feel soooo good. She is an amazing instructor with a lovely heart. I also enjoyed some online seminars about care of our lymph system and complementary treatments. If you are on a healing journey, I highly recommend you look into this resource … even if you aren’t in Austin. They have done a great job being accessible during the pandemic.

I would like to thank the MBCC for the many classes they provide. Before COVID19, I attended the Pilates Classes for many years. It really made a difference in my body. The teacher, Gladys, was so knowledgeable and caring. I was amazed at her patience with me as I needed to modify the exercises. She supported me all the way. Since COVID19, I have attended the Chair Yoga & Chair Pilates on Zoom. This was first experience on Zoom, and I was amazed how it really worked. I am happy that I am able to stay in my home to participate. Both teachers are excellent. Both classes are different, yet interconnected. I am so appreciative of these experiences. I would never be able to know how to breathe and move without their help. I really do hope they continue for a long time. I find them so helpful. I appreciate the opportunity to be part of this fantastic community group.
