Dr. Suzanne Clements Martin is a Doctor of Physical Therapy and Gold-certified Pilates practitioner serving cancer survivors since 2003. She is a certified lymphatic therapist with the Academy of Lymphatic Studies, a certified cancer exercise specialist and exercise physiologist with the American Council on Sports Medicine, as well as a decades-long member of the Oncology Section of the American Physical Therapy Association. She was inspired to serve the survivor population after her experiences with her mother’s cancer journey which coincided with her work at the Breast Cancer Research Center in Oakland, California.
Dr. Martin brings experience in multiple fascial manual therapy and mind-body exercise skills to help survivor restoration from many types of cancer, including thyoma, thyroid, parotid, jaw, throat, endometrial, esophageal, laryngeal, colon, gynecologic, breast, lung, desmoid, sarcoma, prostate, kidney, as well as neurologic cancers.
As President and Education Director for Pilates Therapeutics since 2002, she has trained other therapists and Pilates practitioners with her 3-E philosophy. The three pillars of Ergonomics, Exercise, and Emotion help to meet a survivor where they are and fill a needed gap so as not to be lost in survivorship.
Dr. Martin specializes in Spinal Asymmetry, Cancer Restoration, Foot Issues, Performing Arts, and Women’s Health. She is the author of Spinal Asymmetry and Scoliosis: Movement and Function Solutions for the Spine, Ribcage, and Pelvis available at www.pilatestherapeutics.com
