As a psychologist, I had worked for many years within the health care and medical industry. I was very familiar with illness and death. Then in 2013, my mom and my husband died very suddenly from cancers 12 weeks apart. I recently assisted my father in his transition (prostate cancer).
With Comfort Companions, I have combined my professional experience with my personal experiences. I was with all of my loved ones until their last breaths. While working for the last decade in skilled nursing facilities, I saw the poor quality of treatment and care many of my patients received.
We are a charitable non-profit organization that provides comfort care for those undergoing medical rehabilitation or nearing the end of life.
Our mission is to meet the physical, psychological, and emotional needs of vulnerable and traditionally underserved individuals within the health care system from a cultural, medical, and age-sensitive perspective to improve quality of life.
