A compassionate partnership empowering you in your fight against cancer.
Cancer is the scariest diagnosis a person can receive. Patients and caregivers become overwhelmed with questions, new medical lingo, uncertainty, and fear. There is so much information available on the internet, but what information is reliable? Dr. Edwards uses his expertise in naturopathic oncology and over 20 years of practice to help you make sense of all this information and support you in making the right choices to fight your cancer.
Dr. Edwards will help you understand your diagnosis, the treatments recommended by your oncologist and your options in using integrative medicine. These include diet and lifestyle modifications, nutritional/herbal supplements, and other novel treatments such as IV nutrient therapy. Ultimately, he wants to help improve your fight against cancer and help you heal through the journey.
Taking an integrative approach using evidence-informed, safe, and supportive complementary therapies along with conventional cancer treatments gives patients the best opportunity to fight their disease. It requires a deep understanding of how complementary and conventional medicines will interact, and what the results will be for your body. The safe and effective combination of holistic therapies with conventional cancer treatments is the definition of integrative medicine.
He is the owner of Northwest Naturopathic Oncology and now practices at Sage Cancer Care in Portland Oregon.

About Dr. Edwards …
I am a Naturopathic Physician and have been in practice for over 20 years. From 2002 until January 2009, I practiced in upstate New York doing general naturopathic medicine and treating a variety of conditions including Autoimmune Diseases, Cardiovascular Disease, Gastrointestinal disorders, Women’s Health, Diabetes and Cancer – to name a few. My focus has been cancer care since 2009 .
In 2009, I accepted a position at Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Zion, Illinois. At CTCA, I worked along-side medical oncologists who provided conventional standard of care, while I supported the patients with naturopathic medicine. The most rewarding aspect of working at CTCA was seeing patients who had been suffering significant side effects from the conventional treatments start to feel so much better when incorporating naturopathic support. Many patients credited my care and the use of natural medicine to their improved quality of life and better outcomes.
In 2013, I became a Fellow of the American Board of Naturopathic Oncology (FABNO). There are only 150 naturopathic physicians board-certified in naturopathic oncology in the US and Canada. Those who earn this designation have extensive experience and post-graduate education in naturopathic medicine specific to cancer treatment. The certification requires me to maintain my scholarly pursuits and education to stay current in this fast-changing area of medicine.
Back to the Pacific Northwest! In August 2017, my family and I moved back to Portland, Oregon. My wife and I love the Pacific Northwest and are excited to raise our daughter in this beautiful part of the country. I am very pleased to be part of the team of doctors at Sage Cancer Center in NE Portland. When I’m not in the clinic, I am likely out in nature with my daughter cycling, hiking, or fly fishing.
