My work with cancer survivors began in 2006. I was a frequent guest speaker at a breast cancer support group. I heard many questions and concerns that were not being answered by health professionals about sex and cancer. It became clear to me that a class needed to be created to offer a more comprehensive answer. I developed a six-week class called Rediscovering My Body. This was successfully received for multiple years at Boulder Community Health and became the basis of my book, my workshops, and my retreats.
I am offering a new group for women called Cancer, Sex, and Women. This weekly online process group is for women who have or have had cancer and want to explore topics of body image, how sex has changed, and what to do about it. I am beginning a class for women to address concerns of recovery, intimacy, body image, sexuality, and relationships. If you have experienced intimacy and sexuality changes due to cancer treatment, you are not alone. As a certified sex therapist, I encourage open conversations about sexuality and body image issues. Together, we will create a plan to navigate the emotional, physical, and relational obstacles to help you reconnect and redefine a new sense of self.
I support individuals to become more embodied and to experience more. Oftentimes, that desire is for more pleasure. The discovery process leads people to become familiar and confident with the inherent wisdom of their bodies. While gaining comfort with that, they begin to accept what is true for them while reaching for more. Acknowledging what exists in the body is the pathway forward.
