I have been a massage therapist since 1998 and a Certified Lymphedema Therapist (CLT) since 2006. I focus on manual lymph drainage for lymphedema and those at risk for lymphedema, post mastectomy/breast reconstruction and other cancer surgeries.
I am the first North American practitioner of Marnitz Therapy, a deep tissue neuromuscular therapy that is safe for people with lymphedema or at-risk, as traditional deep tissue techniques are contraindicated. Marnitz Therapy can help relieve musculoskeletal pain from:
- muscle strain from weight of edematous limb
- decreased mobility caused by pain or surgical scars
- overuse of unaffected side
- unconscious guarding of surgical or procedure site
I have been training in Germany since 2006. Germany is the world leader in lymphology research and lymphatic treatment. I have taught a 6 day MLD class since 2009 and have assisted Marnitz Therapy instructor Johanna Blumenschein in Germany and the first U.S. course in October, 2022. The next U.S. course is planned for 2024.
I am a twice certified lymphedema therapist, first in Germany with Akademie Damp in 2006 and then the Klose Training in 2019. Other modalities I have studied in Germany include Marnitz Therapy, scar and lymph taping and axillary web syndrome. I have advanced training in oncology massage with Isabel Atkins.
I am passionate about working with people who are living with cancer or have experienced cancer treatment. They are often underserved and there are comparatively few lymphatic and oncology massage therapists who can work appropriately and safely with them.
