Rachelle Bloksberg MA, LMFT, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California, Nevada, and Florida

You didn’t choose this. Cancer sucks. Nobody would wish it on anyone. Cancer is invasive in so many ways. Your body, your mind, your emotions, and your daily routine are all disrupted by cancer. It makes life really messy. You have been living your life and, all of a sudden, every aspect has been impacted.

All your life. You thought you had all the time in the world to live your dreams. You have plans. Now they are all on hold. Cancer has upended everything in your life. On top of all that, you have lots of stress and uncertainty to deal with, as well as a new life of medical appointments. There is so much to learn while being pulled in several different directions all at once. Cancer is overwhelming.

You need support, understanding, and hope. Therapy can help you during every phase of your treatment. We can address your concerns about who you are now and your vision of life ahead as you traverse the stress, sorrows, and uncertainties of surviving cancer. Feeling lost and overwhelmed in the foreign land of medical care is normal. You may often feel more like a medical chart than a person. We can talk about how to make it through all the challenges in front of you.

With support, you can create new plans while holding on to your dreams and other plans. We can discuss how family and friends fit into your plans and how you want to communicate with them.

Grief is often part of being chronically ill. You grieve all the things you lose during your treatment. It is natural to mourn the loss of dreams and plans. Therapy is a safe place to talk about anything. No topic is off-limits. So many things change with cancer. We will always address what is important to you at the moment.

Some issues I work with:

Chronic illness
Coping with cancer and other medical conditions
Traversing the medical system
Communicating with medical professionals
Medical trauma
Pain management
End-of-life issues
Grief and loss
Depression
Anxiety
Trauma
Fear
Relationships
Finding meaning
Building self-confidence
Life transitions
LGBTQ+ issues

Your body and how it functions don’t define you. There is so much more that makes you the unique person you are. You are insightful, intellectual, emotional, intuitive, and creative. You have knowledge and perspectives that are unique and valuable. In therapy, we will work with all the different aspects of who you are that can support you through your healing process.

I offer couples and family sessions. You can invite those important to you to participate and get support.

My practice is entirely online and private pay. I can provide a superbill to submit to your insurance. I work with clients virtually throughout California using a HIPAA-compliant version of Zoom. I offer a free video or phone consultation to answer questions and determine fit. You can schedule your free video consultation here or you can reach me by email or phone. I look forward to speaking with you soon.
