When a child is diagnosed with cancer, the whole family is affected. Siblings may experience feelings of sadness, jealousy or guilt.
Camp Grey Dove is a fun summer camp specially designed for siblings of children diagnosed with cancer or special health care needs. Campers benefit from meeting other kids who understand, as well as making new friends, trying new things, and “taking a break” from family stress.
The camp has traditional activities like swimming, a ropes course, scavenger hunts, archery and a talent show. In addition, there are therapeutic programs and group counseling that help campers process their experiences. The therapy is fun and age-appropriate, with activities, crafts and games that get kids to open up, explore emotions, and learn coping skills.
This is free of cost and includes Summer Camp outdoor activities and support groups and activities to address the emotional needs of siblings of children with special health care needs and cancer, including grief for those whose sibling passed away due to their medical condition.
- Campers must be 7-14 years old (no exceptions)
- Camper has a sibling who has cancer, is in remission, or has passed away, or has special health care needs
- Priority will be given to first-time campers and bereaved
My son loves Camp Grey Dove.
We so appreciate giving him a time
to feel special
and take a break from family stress.
