Brad Power was a process innovation researcher and consultant when he was diagnosed with lymphoma in 2018. While attending a conference on personalized medicine at Harvard Medical School, he spoke up to provide his experience as a patient, and was told by many attendees that he had a voice. He felt this must be his calling, and he decided to focus his skills and experience on accelerating innovation and personalization in cancer treatment. He ran “hackathons” (a crowd of diverse experts) to help several patients make complex treatment decisions. Building on this experience, he launched the Cancer Patient Lab with two co-founders in 2022.
The Cancer Patient Lab is a patient-led learning community that was founded with a mission to help advanced cancer patients and their caregivers. Our team provides you with the tools and resources you need to make informed decisions about your treatments. We believe that nobody should face cancer alone, and that is why we have created a platform where patients can connect with each other and with experts in the field. We help patients and caregivers avoid cancer journey pitfalls and adopt best practices by gathering and sharing data, especially experiences, across our community. We are constantly learning and applying that knowledge within our community. We are here to support you every step of the way. Please see https://www.
In 2024, Brad and his partner Ari Akerstein launched an accelerator for cancer navigation startups (CancerHacker Lab). In 2025, Brad and Ari launched Navis Health, offering cancer navigation services using AI, curated connections to experts and services, a community of engaged cancer patients and caregivers, and a health data vault.
