Coalition for Women’s Cancers

Mission Statement
Recognizing the need for a community network in support of women’s cancers, The Coalition for Women’s Cancers was formed. The local, volunteer-driven group is comprised of professionals and concerned friends with varied backgrounds and talents. This group has come together to create and sustain a supportive network for women affected by breast, ovarian and uterine cancers. The organization focuses on early detection and empowerment to bring about better health care and an improved quality of life.

“We know that early detection is key to increasing the survival rate in cancers affecting women,” says Susan Barry Roden, “and here, on Long Island, we have one of the highest rates of breast cancer in the nation. Being proactive is imperative.”

The CWC provides support for women and families on the Eastern End of Long Island, including the towns of Southampton, East Hampton and Shelter Island.

Newly Diagnosed? We are just a phone call away! Call 631-204-9331

Our Peer to Peer Program can help.
No matter what type of Breast or GYN Cancer you are diagnosed with, we can match you with a thriving survivor with a similar cancer. Cancer survivors give hope and counsel to those new to the world of cancer. You will be matched according to criteria such as age, diagnosis and cancer stage. They have been trained to help you with problem solving, coping strategies and stress reduction techniques. Talking to someone who had a similar diagnosis and who overcame some of the same challenges that you may be facing can be comforting and reduce the sense of anxiety and isolation your diagnosis brings.
