For over 25 years, I’ve counselled those facing cancer and other life-threatening conditions at the QEII Health Sciences Center in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. I’ve also survived cancer four times, which resulted in a profound near-death experience. I know illness from both sides of the bed and this life from both sides of the veil. This compels me to support individuals in living their fullest lives, engaging struggle as fuel for self-understanding and authentic well-being. I offer myself as a compassionate guide who has helped thousands work through life’s deepest challenges.
I’m a specialist with the Canadian Association for Spiritual Care (CASC), a member of the Canadian Association for Psychosocial Oncology (CAPO), a teacher with the Atlantic Therapeutic Touch Network (ATTN), and a Board member of the International Association for Near-Death Studies (IANDS).
I’m also an award-winning author. Beyond Surviving: Cancer and Your Spiritual Journey weaves my experience of life-threatening disease with patient stories and insights as to how we cannot only go through cancer but grow through cancer. I speak internationally on meaning in suffering, the wisdom of grief, mindfulness, coping with illness, death and dying, mystical phenomena, compassion fatigue and integrative spirituality.
