Mark Kageyama, Co-Founder and Moderator at Cancer Conquering Community and 2byourownhero

My name is Mark Kageyama. My wife Beth and I moved last October from Southern California to outside of Abilene, Texas. My daughter and son in law have lived here nearly 6 years. We had our first grandchild in late October of last year, 2 weeks after we moved. I never thought I would leave California, after being born and raised there.

A few years prior, I would have never dreamed that I would have been physically able to make a grueling move like this, due to the effects of Stage 4 cancer. I was so weak at that time. I weighed 123 pounds. I could barely walk. I now weigh 170.

In late 2020, out of the blue, in the early stages of the pandemic, I was unable to get out of bed. I couldn’t walk. Prior to Covid, I worked out 3-5 times a week religiously for decades. I started doing a deep dive into finding out what was wrong. I was assigned to an oncologist.

After months of invasive, inhumane testing, my oncologist called my wife and me into her office. She said,

You have Stage 4 prostate, bone, and lung cancer.
I cannot cure you.
I suggest you get your affairs in order.
I will do my best to make your remaining days
as comfortable as possible.

My thought was, in reference to my oncologist,

Who are you to tell me how much longer I have to live?
You’re not God!

Honestly, I was actually relieved to find out exactly what I was dealing with. Up until then, I knew something was wrong, but had no idea what exactly.

I knew that the answers were out there, somewhere. I used LinkedIn to reach out to patients and survivors all over the world. I wanted to talk to the people who had walked the walk. I was amazed to find out how wiling people were to help me!

I started a Youtube channel with the help of my daughter Lisa. I called the channel 2byourownhero to inspire everyone and to provide hope for cancer patients everywhere. I have over 200 videos and have posted a video every week since early 2021, without missing one week.

We started the Cancer Conquering Community in September of 2021. We are on Zoom every Monday at 7:00pm est, 4:00pm pst. We have speakers as well as open networking from week to week.

Attendance is by invitation only.

The Cancer Conquering Community has a private Facebook page as well as a Youtube channel, called the cancerconqueringcommunity.
With the help of the cancer community,  I was able to come up with my personal protocol. I did go through 6 rounds of chemotherapy which slowed the rapid growth of my cancer. This allowed the natural things to take effect.
I am so thankful to open my eyes everyday! I work with cancer patients and survivors daily, mostly virtual. I do not charge for helping people but, with that being said, I mostly communicate through LinkedIn  and email, due to time limitations.

I am not licensed, except for the fact that I am still alive from having had Stage 4 prostate, bone, and lung cancer. I have a license on life!
