Today, we live in a world where cancer is all too common. Every day, people discover that friends, family, acquaintances — maybe even themselves — have been diagnosed with this life-threatening and life-altering disease. As the cancer experience evolves with scientific advancements, so does survivorship and the ways in which patients receive care and support. The spirit of the human condition has driven Epic Experience to leverage virtual reality technology to curate an environment where cancer patients can experience support through custom one-of-a-kind videos that empower them to thrive beyond cancer.
When survivors step into the world of ThriveVR, they are transported to the great outdoors in 360-degree virtual reality to experience what living beyond cancer looks and sounds like. These videos, with mindfulness voice-overs, immerse people in calming yet empowering adventures like horseback riding, stand-up paddleboarding, and white water rafting.
During what can be an isolating and traumatic time, survivors have the opportunity to embrace nature and community in a setting where many other cancer thrivers have found strength, healing, and hope as they reflect on the new normal of a cancer diagnosis.
ThriveVR is an all-in-one headset with experiences intended for patients in cancer hospitals and treatment clinics. ThriveVR’s customized user experience ensures that even first-time users feel comfortable navigating the interface.
The ThriveVR content has been made possible by technological developments, but more importantly, by the willingness of thousands of cancer survivors and thrivers sharing their stories and expressing what they consider important. It is these cancer survivors and thrivers who have shaped the themes and given words to these experiences.
