Sameera Sachdev, Clinical Psychologist, Addressing Grief and Trauma

From Darkness to Purpose: A Journey of Healing and Helping

Healing Beyond the Diagnosis:
Trauma-Informed Support for Cancer Patients and Their Families

Cancer rarely comes alone when it enters your world. Whether through your diagnosis or that of someone you love, it brings fear, questions, physical changes, and emotional waves you didn’t prepare for.

It brings the heaviness of explaining your reality to friends who may not understand and the pressure of staying strong for everyone while quietly breaking on the inside.

It also brings grief – not just at the end, but from the moment life changes.

I am Sameera Sachdev, a trauma-informed grief therapist and clinical psychologist. And I want you to know that you are not meant to navigate this alone.

About Me and My Work with the Cancer Community

Over the years, I have had the privilege of supporting cancer patients and their families through every stage of the journey:

✅ Right after diagnosis, when the shock hasn’t worn off and the future feels blurred.

✅ Through the emotional isolation, anxiety, and identity shifts that come with treatment and changing relationships.

✅ In the quiet spaces between hospital visits, when friends return to their normal, and you are left wondering what your life now looks like.

✅ For those facing metastasized diagnoses, especially with children involved, I help hold space for the conversations you never thought you would need to have.

✅ And if the time comes to say goodbye, I walk with families through anticipatory grief and accept the end with peace, not panic.

I also work closely with primary caregivers and spouses because their exhaustion, guilt, and pain deserve attention, too.

Relationships don’t have to break under the weight of illness. They can become a pillar of strength when supported the right way.

What Makes My Approach Different?

As a trauma-informed clinician, I understand that cancer is not just a medical journey; it is an emotional, relational, and even spiritual one.

My support goes beyond talk therapy. It includes:

✅ Grief and anxiety support tailored to each stage of the cancer journey

✅ Nervous system regulation tools for moments of panic, overwhelm, or fatigue

✅ Space to process body-image shifts, lost dreams, and sudden lifestyle changes

✅ Family-centered support to rebuild emotional safety between parents, children, and spouses

✅ Guidance for professionals trying to maintain work balance while undergoing or caregiving through treatment

✅ End-of-life processing that helps you or your loved one face death without fear and with dignity

Whether you are a patient, a partner, or a parent trying to hold it together, I am here to walk you through your healing journey.

Take the first step toward empowered healing today and gain the support, guidance and confidence to navigate your cancer journey with me today.
