We envision a future
where equitable accessible healthcare
is a reality for all.
As a leading charitable foundation and healthcare advocacy organization, the Patient Access Network Foundation is dedicated to accelerating access to treatment for those who need it most and empowering patients on their healthcare journeys.
We provide critical financial assistance for treatment costs, advocate for policy solutions that expand access to care, and deliver education on complex topics — all driven by our belief that everyone deserves access to affordable, equitable healthcare.
Since 2004, our financial assistance programs have helped more than 1.3 million people to start or stay on life-changing treatment. In addition, we have achieved major policy victories that increase access to care, mobilized patient advocates to call for change, and educated people nationwide on critical healthcare-related topics. We are committed to working towards a future where equitable health outcomes are a reality for all.
Our mission
As an independent national 501(c)(3) organization, the PAN Foundation’s mission is to accelerate access to affordable, equitable healthcare through financial assistance, advocacy, and education.
Through our charitable assistance programs, advocacy efforts, and education initiatives, we remove barriers to treatment, champion policies that expand access to care, and help improve health outcomes for thousands of people each year — across a broad range of health conditions.
We advocate for access to affordable healthcare so that all people can reach their best health.
According to a 2024 Kaiser Family Foundation poll, about half of U.S. adults report that it is difficult to afford healthcare costs, and one in four say they or a family member had problems paying for healthcare in the past 12 months.
Our research underscores these findings: access to care is challenging for nearly everyone in the United States. Alongside patients, caregivers, healthcare professionals, and partners, we champion long-term solutions for patients through advocacy, patient-centered research, and education.
We take action to advocate for improved healthcare access and affordability through online campaigns and opportunities to tell patient-centered stories. With our partners and allies, we provide policy recommendations to key stakeholders—including federal agencies, Congress, and the administration.
We conduct patient-centered research through surveys and polling on topics related to healthcare access and affordability, bringing to light the real challenges patients face today.
The PAN Foundation’s Center for Patient Research provides insights into the diverse needs of patients as they navigate the healthcare system and challenges accessing affordable, equitable care. Through rigorous methodologies, our Center for Patient Research aims to understand the challenges faced by patients, translate these findings into actionable knowledge for key stakeholders and policymakers, and help inform policies that lead to accessible, affordable, and equitable healthcare for all.
Educating patients, healthcare professionals, and advocates about key healthcare policies is a cornerstone of our work. This includes developing easy-to-understand guides and explainer videos, hosting webinars, and partnering with other organizations on topics such as:
- Everything you need to know about Medicare reforms
- Alternative funding programs (AFPs)
- Copay accumulators and maximizers
- Clinical trials
- Patient financial assistance
We have been improving access and transforming the health of people across the country through our financial assistance programs for over 20 years.
Through our charitable assistance programs, advocacy efforts, and education initiatives, we remove barriers to treatment, champion policies that expand access to care, and help improve health outcomes for thousands of people each year — across a broad range of health conditions.
Since 2004, the Patient Access Network Foundation has provided over $4.5 billion in financial assistance to more than 1.3 million people, achieved major policy victories that increase access to care, mobilized thousands of patient advocates, and educated thousands more on critical healthcare-related topics.
The PAN Foundation recognizes that those seeking copay assistance often face challenges beyond their financial concerns. To provide additional support, we partner with leading national advocacy groups — known as alliance partners—to provide services like disease-specific education, community support, and insurance information.
Everyone who reaches out to PAN Foundation for financial assistance can choose to connect with one of our alliance partners to ensure they are receiving the support and services they need, whether or not they receive funding from us
