Even more concerning, according to a recent analysis from the National Cancer Institute … more than one‑third of U.S. cancer survivors reported no leisure‑time physical activity in 2022.
Only 15.9 % met federal guidelines for aerobic and muscle‑strengthening exercise. AND 84% don’t — meaning roughly 8 out of 10, or 80% of survivors, are not meeting minimum activity recommendations.
This inactivity crisis limits survivors’ ability to regain strength, manage treatment side effects, and reduce recurrence risk.
Physical activity not only improves treatment outcomes but can also help prevent weight gain, reduce the risk of other cancers and chronic diseases, and enhance overall quality of life.
