At The Cancer Wellness Center in Austin, Texas, we believe that receiving complementary care is an important approach for cancer patients and survivors. We strive to offer the best care in a comforting and compassionate environment. There are many disciplines that offer increased wellness and support during and after conventional care. We offer some acupuncture and oncology massage, so that you can feel confident in knowing that you are being cared for by people with expertise in their fields, specific to the cancer patient and survivor.
Michelle Schreiber has been practicing in the complementary health care field since 1997, including 17 years in Austin, Texas. As the founder of The Cancer Wellness Center in Austin, Michelle also co-founded and co-owns Sage Acupuncture in Austin. Michelle has spent several years in integrated clinical settings, including Tulsi Holistic Living in Washington DC and the Carl Vogel Center – a multi-disciplinary HIV clinic. In 2005, she co-authored a study on acupuncture and pain management with HIV patients. In 2006, she participated in a peer review of “Chinese Medical Herbology and Pharmacology,” by the Art of Medicine Press.
Michelle received her Masters of Science in Oriental Medicine from the AOMA Graduate School of Integrative Medicine. She has since undergone advanced training/certification and practice in cancer care, occupational acupuncture (a practice which aims to help heal musculo-skeletal injury) and in women’s health and fertility. Currently, Michelle is engaged in further studies in Classical Chinese Medicine at the American University of Complementary Medicine, with esteemed senior teacher and Daoist priest, Jeffery Yuen.

A passion for food and nutrition, rooted in a lifetime of study, led Michelle to complete training in “Food as Medicine” through the Center for Mind Body Medicine and Georgetown University Medical School. She is also certified by the American Association of Nutritional Consultants.
Michelle is a graduate of The Shiatsu Institute and Therapy Center in San Francisco, The Lauterstein-Conway School of Massage in Austin, and the Asian bodywork program at the Academy of Oriental Medicine at Austin, where she went on to assist in the Tuina department. Michelle is also a Reiki Master and certified meditation instructor.
Michelle is licensed in Acupuncture by the Texas Board of Medical Examiners and holds Diplomate status in Oriental Medicine by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Further, she is a professional member of the Texas Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and the Society of Integrative Oncology.
Outside of the office, Michelle can be found spending time with her family, exercising her body and mind, cooking, volunteering, and playing the drums.
